Hi!

Welcome to my little corner of the internet. There's bourbon, lipstick, & a lot of fun here. Enjoy!

Cheers Y'all: My Favorite Mule

Cheers Y'all: My Favorite Mule

One of God's many blessings upon this Earth is bourbon. It's sweet, rich, & complex like your favorite auntie. Bourbon evokes a feeling of warmth, relaxation, & is likely the spirit of choice of your uncles who get together every weekend to pretend they're fixing a truck in the garage. While bourbon is a Winter staple for keeping The Hawk away, it can easily transition into light, refreshing Summer cocktails. My favorite of which being The Kentucky Mule.

Originally called a "Buck", the cocktail began being called "Kentucky Mule" around the time The Moscow Mule became popular in Los Angeles in the 1940s. It's in a family of mules that can be made with vodka, gin, or rum. The Kentucky Mule is made with ginger beer or ginger ale, lemon or lime juice, and the whiskey or bourbon of your choice. Some bars will throw in extras like bitters for added flare but the star of the show is the Bourbon. It pairs brilliantly with ginger beer & the citrus juice brightens up the richness of the Bourbon & the spice of the ginger. Wild Turkey is my recommended bourbon but a good Bulliet or Maker's Mark will taste nearly as good.

Kentucky Mules are perfect for Saturday afternoons grilling in the backyard or as your drink of choice during a marathon brunch Sunday. If you're new to brown spirits, it's a perfect introduction to the wonderful world of Whiskey & Bourbon. Grow out of Whiskey Sours and evolve into the refreshing & delicious Kentucky Mule. Tell your bartender I sent you.

Cheers, Y'all!
